The next wave of smart grid activity is not only happening in the typically pioneering U.S., Europe, India and China. The smart grid market is truly global, worth at least $27 billion and potentially $49 billion in emerging countries in Eastern Europe, Latin American, Africa and South East Asia, according to a new study from Northeast Group.
Countries like the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia are expected to begin relatively early with their smart grids deployment. AMI will be the bulk of smart grid implementation, but there also is "strong potential" for distribution automation and home energy management technologies such as distributed generation, and EV supply equipment.
The full value of these technologies will not be fully realized without the development of an intelligent grid operating system. Home energy management, distributed generation and EV will transform the grid!
Against this background, we have expanded the scope of our event beyond metering to encompass all smart energy elements. Smart Utilities Central & Eastern Europe 2012 is designed to help you make the most of this opportunity.
Critical insights will be given into:
>> Building your business case around smart metering implementations learn how to efficiently implement smart metering pilots and prepare for full scale roll-outs, including international experiences overcoming new security and privacy requirements. Insights by: The European Commission, CEZ and EBRD
>> Smart network management explore the challenges ahead for the CEE power supply business in achieving operational efficiency, as well as new trends in distribution automation and planning around renewable integration. Insights by: Energa Operator, Enexis and SC Electrica
>> Best-in-class regional smart grid projects get a full understanding of how smart grids will affect the utility business model. Plus insights into the potential of smart grid technologies and the role in delivering security of supply. Including presentations by Roland Berger Consultants, CEZ Romania and Frost & Sullivan
>> Implementing a future proof ICT system learn how to implement intelligence in your current ICT infrastructure and understand how to effectively use smart data to ensure a secure system. Insights by: Ministry of Economy and Commerce Romania and ENEL
>> Identify the new market opportunities for the CEE region gain knowledge on e-mobility projects, new energy services and the role of customers in reaching 2020 targets. Insights by EnBW and IDC Energy Insights
